The Cuckoo Clock counts rapes insead of hours. It's said that a rape is commited every fiftheenth minute in Sweden, and that only one percent of all incidents lead to a guilty verdict. The dick jumps out every fiftheenth minute, reminding that statistically there has been a new rape. Every hundredth time a bar will fall down and stop the dick on its way, reminding of how seldom the perpetrator is convicted. The design resembles a traditional swedish cottage, to illustrate that most sexual abuse occurs at home. The Clock was intended to be given as present to the Swedish law enforcement. It would be delivered with the message: "According to a recent study from Stockholm University less than one percent of all rapes lead to conviction. Christian Diesen, who has lead the study, says that the reason behind those low figures is that women often is met by a fundamental distrust and skepticism: Law enforcement and prosecutors often assumes that most reports are false." Course: Design Theory. |
